10 THRIVE HABITS FOR DEEP HEALTH

Do you long to move with more freedom?

Are you limited by scar tissue, old injuries and compensating patterns?

Do you suffer with inflammation and dehydration that’s keeping you stuck?

Come work with me...
I've been there!

I’m Ally Morrison, experienced Yoga Teacher, Myo-Fascial Release Therapist and Wellness pro of 24 years.

I started my post-college years with chronic back pain, a new scoliosis diagnosis, and the shock of daily aches and pains. My youth and optimism led me to seek out natural healing approaches upon a road less traveled back in 1992.

I knew so little about the deep health and function of my body, mind and emotions as a unit. My sister introduced me to yoga, and with regular practice, I turned a corner.

Eventually a lumbar disc surgery in 2013 inspired a fusion of bodywork, fascia release and yoga practices to regain mobility. That process bore out the Fabric of Fascia Release Manual, my self-treatment guide for connective tissue release and injury recovery.

My primary interest is in how the body’s structural imbalances are informed by physical injury, poor posture, mental-emotional states and vital organ health. Knowledge and the wisdom of deep interconnectivity is now the pathway to wholeness that I share.

Both pro Athletes and Yogis trust my insights into alignment, movement and wholeness. And so together, we will map out your ideal alignment using the Body Blueprint as the guide.

Let’s get started.

What if pain can also be addressed through the overall health of vital organs and energy pathways that run thru them?

The smooth movement of the diaphragm actually massages liver and gallbladder internally.

Up and down with each breath. Massages and pulses oxygenated blood thru the organs.

Smooth breathing = smooth energy flow = smooth emotional state.

The liver and gallbladder organs naturally cleanse each night 11pm-3am. And again at seasonal changes… like springtime!

Gallbladder meridian… a pathway of energy that overlays with your fascial system.

It directly impacts muscular tension, impatient mind states and bold, impudent behavior.

Liver/Gallbladder are paired and when balanced, help regulate the smooth flow of movement, emotions and vision.

Join me for a LIVE In-person workshop at @kulayogaonmain.

Not quite winter, and not quite spring. Transition slowly. Gradually.

Pausing between seasons and moments is potent.

This week begins the meld into Spring practices… lateral stretches and twists, deeper forward folds and the release of winters cold grip on the body and organs.

Diaphragm releases and the planning of spring cleaning, fasts or detox.. what I like to call a food vacation.

Come over to my online studio for seasonal practices to address the seasonal aches and pains.

Or meet live at @kulayogaonmain at the new location on March 15 at 9am for Form + Flow Yoga.

Back pain ruled my life for 20+ years. I listened carefully to the lessons it was teaching me.

One important lesson was to look for less obvious sources to find the root of pain.

One of my root imbalances is outer hip tightness. It keeps the pelvis from moving laterally, and keeps the sacrum hard stuck medially.

I can’t say enough about this fascia release position… Side-Lying Crescent Pose with a block (or towel roll) to relieve postural tension and restore pelvic movement.

Get my e-book and practice this at home for yourself! Step-by-step instructions for 19 positions and sequences included.

Front of the shoulder pain is this slowly creeping in combo of weakness and tightness.

And you don’t know it’s there until you attend a stretch class or inadvertently injure the shoulder.

I’ve seen that scenario repeatedly happen over 25 years as a massage therapist.

Stretching and release is only half of the story… changing from strain to strength is the long game.

For me, the long game is assisted by remembering good principles of alignment and movement to guide me daily.

How can you tell what is neutral shoulder alignment? How can you tell what is healthy and sustainable?

Learning to ID the bony landmarks of the skeleton and their relationship to each other helps to understand what the muscles are doing.

From there, practice and repetition of the principles helps to shift the body to automation of good posture.

Yup… you gotta know where your bones are located to understand the muscles that move them.
18 years ago I was bolder and more aggressive with my body, sports and activities.

I lived in a log cabin, chopped wood daily and skied 100 days a season.

Oh yeah… plus worked full-time as a Massage Therapist to pro athletes and taught yoga 3-5x per week.

It was fun. I was in daily pain. I was secretive about what I did to mask and deal with the pain.

At some point we have to face limitations, and open to a whole new capability inside.

My partner told me today that my body is way more balanced, strong and able than 18 years ago.

And I have NO daily pain anymore.

Back surgery only took me a ways down that road…. Fascia release, self-care, yoga health and alignment drive the car for me now.

Come hop on my highway of health… start simply with weekly classes. Learn my approach and practices.

I’m eager to connect with you and share what has worked for my clients and students who devote to their journey.

Beyond tingles of excitement is a deep relief to share my E-book with you.

You have a secret hidden in your outer rotator cuff areas.

Deep tension that’s a blend of your breath patterns, posture, sports and activities.

The secret tension creates limited movement and pain elsewhere… and not at the root cause.

Root causes are always buried, shadowed, secret but influencing all the same.

Foam Roller Fascia Release for Shoulders will teach you an effective sequence for improving Shoulder ROM and upper body tension.

Check the link in my Bio for Short Practices. It’s a 20 min duration.

Hope to see you there online!

Surprise Self-Treatment for Sciatica.

Looking at the shadowy players behind the scenes… that’s what SI joint pain and Sciatica feels like.

It often shows up and never leaves you alone. Lurking in the background.

So this class is a Black Friday thang. Perfect because it’s eclipse season, too. Shadow pain be gone!

I’m going to talk about the angle of the pelvis and the muscles that pull upon it. And we’re going to practice techniques to erase Sciatica aches and pains.

Energize without Anxiety…. Yes, it’s possible.

It’s not like your body came with an instruction manual… or a finals exam to see if you actually know how it operates!

We see other people reaching for sweets, or caffeine or energy drinks to get their hit.

At the time it seems like a good idea… until the system crash comes.

I’m offering a special class this week about how to energize without anxiety or feeling frazzled and overcharged.

You’ll learn yoga postures that balance your nervous system response.

Along with breath techniques that challenge your diaphragm, blood oxygen levels and overall alertness.

I have experienced nerve pain to the level that I couldn’t sleep.

Couldn’t fall asleep. Couldn’t stay asleep.

It was maddening!

Some yoga positions enable our nervous system to down-regulate, chill out and welcome the brain wave states of sleep.

Good nutrition, lifestyle and schedule also play a big role.

Gravity and time help us play down the active mind of restless thoughts and open the door to sleep.

I’m excited to share this work with you in an Online Class format… Natural Yoga Tips for Better Sleep.

In 2011, I suffered with a painful trigger finger that seemed to be a career ender.

Click. Pop. Pain. Over and over.

No gentle sliding in the joint action. Sigh.

My long history as a Massage Therapist made it crucial that I learn how to care for my Hands & Wrists.

I discovered that Shoulder ROM was partially to blame, and that releasing tension from Biceps was key, too.

Learn about the benefit of Fascia Release in my upcoming short class called Remedy for Hand & Wrist Pain.

There’s a wisdom overlap with the Chinese Meridians and the Nadis of the Yoga practice. There’s also divergence.

The Yoga system is a spiritual practice that has a strong physical component.

The Chinese system is a physical medicine with a strong spiritual component.

Both are healing, and valuable to your inner work.

When yoga asana feels too vigorous, but you want to move your body… then Medical Chi Gong is there to restore vital health.

This week I’m teaching Restore Natural Health with Medical Chi Gong and the good folks at @learn_it_live.

Strengthen Your Butt Muscles. Yup. It’s a must for a healthy back and open hips!

I’ve found all kinds of ways to activate gluteal muscles in standing, walking and especially getting up/down from seated positions.

I never knew my butt muscles were underdeveloped until sacro-illiac pain was a daily thing.

The strain you feel in your lower back can be transformed into strength with daily strengthening of the glutes.

I haven’t had SI joint pain for 20 years now!

I’m teaching a short practice this week that you can catch Live or On-Demand.

Strengthen Your Butt Muscles. Wed 4pm MDT/6pm EDT. Link in Bio if interested.

Hope to see your butt in class! 😂
Did you know the diaphragm is a muscle? One that contracts and relaxes like other skeletal muscles.

It’s movement massages you internally. Up and down, it presses on Liver and Pericardium Organs and connective tissue.

Join me for a short 20 min practice at 4 pm MDT today livestream for Diaphragm Workout for Breath & Core. Link in bio to access On-Demand, too.
My hands have been my livelihood for 24 years.

Nothing has been as stressful for me as injuring a hand, finger or wrist. It would mean working in pain, or not working for days. When you are a Manual Therapist, you guard your hands’ health like gold.

I”m pleased to share tips I’ve learned and counted on for years to extend my career.

This week I’m leading Remedy for Hand & Wrist Pain, a 20 min practice you can do anywhere, anytime.

Catch this Short Practice Live or get it On-Demand. I have a link in my Bio for you to access the teaching.
When it comes to hand and wrist pain… what can you do?

One thing I’ve seen in 24 years of Massage practice, is that the shoulder is always involved.

No matter if you are weight bearing on your hands or not, the shoulder always plays a role.

Releasing the hand and wrist simultaneously with the shoulder is where I’ve seen the best long-tern outcomes.

It’s connected thru the matrix of the fascia and the energy of the meridians.

And there’s a lovely lesson here… about reaching out, performing labor in the world, and yet not over-giving while being tethered to the heart 💚

I’m teaching on this topic next Wed Oct 14 for a 20 min Short Practice. I hope you will join me ✨

Wait no longer… open a door to more vibrant health and decreased stress for yourself today.

“While acupuncture and herbs and even diet can be helpful to counteract stress and its resulting hormonal imbalance, often there is no medicine - except for pranayama - that affects the nervous system quite as rapidly as the regular practice of abhyanga self-massage.”
Dr. Claudia Welch, MSOM

Calm your nervous system, decrease cortisol and other stress hormones, improve sleep and longevity… yes, with simple a Self-Massage routine.

Not everyone will want to admit that caring for your health can be simple, DIY and affordable.

Yes, I said that. And I believe that.

Join me this Wed Sept 29 for an online presentation of Quick Self-Massage for Daily Health.

I think every yoga teacher and student would readily admit to having a slower practice a few times a week.

It’s certainly not all Sun Salutes and Handstand hops on the daily… year in and out.

Besides… what if you knew techniques to activate your body’s energy pathways and healing points… without super vigorous exercise?

I predict you would practice that a few times a week.

Learning and practicing Meridian Yoga has brought a calm vigor to my down time practices.

Join me this Friday, Sept 24 at 5pm MDT for the Live class or catch the Replay. Link in my Bio to learn more and read the class description.

Cozy. Calm. Centered.

So the opposite from frantic, rushed, scattered. Which is a part of life, too.

For me, it’s reassuring to know there are yogic techniques that are a soothing balm for fried nerves.

Calm nerves also soothe the pain response.

In 6 steps, you can practice Full Yogic Breathing that moves air into all parts of the lungs, stretches and opens your rib cage, chest and both energizes and calms the mind.

For Sept, I’m offering 15 min Short practices every Wednesday 4pm Mountain/6pm Eastern.

A Daily Meditation for Calming is coming up this Wed 9/15. See link in Bio for Short Practice LiL Moments.
Yes, being pain-free is a joyful experience. Who doesn’t prefer a smile over a grimace?

Knowing how to self-fix and self-treat aches and pains also lends joy my life outlook.

The view from here is pretty uplifting.

Meanwhile, pain and it’s pal named suffering, seem to circle and cycle around. And around.

Learning how our bodies work and heal gives us power over pain. Power to shift stagnant mental states.

I invite you to join me for explorations into posture, alignment, fascia release and injury healing by applying techniques I’ve learned from my massage and yoga practices.

Every week, I offer 2 fresh new Livestream classes that beat a path to daily health.

Once a week, I offer a 20 min practice of LiL Moments that are super focused.

Once a month, you get a short workshop 45 min in duration.

I then offer 1:1 sessions to dive deeper into your unique issues.

Come work with me and begin to unlock your power over pain.
Trying to stay calm and chill… can I?

Trying to find an internal stillness… is that possible?

Are there steps to get there… and can I do them?

I’ve practiced various yoga techniques through the years… trying to recreate the magical, present-moment-ness of giving massage.

I’m sharing this with you today at 4pm Mountain/6pm Eastern on my Online Academy with @learn_it_live

Link in Bio to learn more, register or catch it On-Demand.

I think it’s time to roll out the summer! Who’s ready for some Foam Roller Freedom this season? I’m ready to start a new class series that you can join online from the comfort of your living room. Sounds good?

Now I’m determined to share all I learned in those 24 years about tense muscles, scar tissue release, relaxation, body mechanics and DIY fixes you can do at home.

I’m passionate about Self-care as the new Health-care!

The more paddling and yoga that I practice, the stronger I feel in my core and upper body.

That said, with the strength comes tone and some tightness.

The upper body is how we reach out to the world… to create, to work, to help, to serve. I want to feel good in that place.

Opening the chest, ribs and thoracic spine is key for maintaining balanced action in the muscles and joints.

The Inner Thighs are a tender area, and don’t normally receive deep pressure or release. I know from giving Massage Therapy that this area is often overlooked and under-treated.

The subtle Yin channels of Spleen, Kidney and Liver also run thru this area. They affect the deep, nourished, internal vitality of Body health.

I’m fascinated by the increase of Knee pain with aging, when we simultaneously lose our life force vitality.

Beat the summer heat and join me for Yin & Zen Yoga every Wednesday night at 5pm PDT/6pm MDT/8pm EDT. Livestream class online and link in Bio to access the studio.

What could this position POSSIBLY have to do with improving the Feel and Function of your Shoulders?

The answer lies within the fascia, but you don’t have to know anything about fascia to experience the benefits.

In fact, just following the Principles of Fascia Release will help improve Shoulder range-of-motion.

Join me tonight for a very special LIVESTREAM class with @learn_it_live called 4 Shoulder Stretches for the Workplace.

Practicing yoga outdoors feels extremely free and expansive… maybe too much so, because balance poses can actually be more challenging on uneven surfaces.

Lower lunges and hip opening postures feel even more grounding though. And the final savasana resting pose is absolutely what your fried, modern nervous system really craves.

Join me every Thursday night 630pm MDT for Summer Outdoor Yoga in Glenwood Springs, CO.
